We had so much fun on our cruise. We left Saturday the 9th out of Los Angeles. So you must be 6 months old to go on a cruise. We were so lucky Dane came when he did. He was 6 month and 1 day old. Needless to say he was probably the youngest baby on the cruise. Tamara and Marissa got to our house on Friday night. Lara and her family drove in from Utah on Saturday, Bryan also arrived on Saturday and my parents were already in town. We threw everything in the back of Bryan's truck. (we had 5 suitcases!)
Arriving on the ship was so much fun. All of our rooms were very close to each other. My parents and Tamara had balcony rooms which was so nice. We were right across the hall from my parents room so our video monitor worked perfectly. We were able to go across to my parents room and watch Dane during his naps. My parents also let Eric and I roam free on the ship at night. They are great babysitters.
We loved our stateroom attendant. Every night he brought a plateful of cookies for the kids. He took really good care of us. Our first 2 days we were at sea. This gave us a chance to check out the ship, play games, and of course eat. I have never eaten so much in my whole life. I guess I lived the life of a hobbit with breakfast, second breakfast, lunch, second lunch, pre dinner, dinner and late night snack. Not to mention I probably ate about 5 peanut butter cookies each day. Hey you only live once right??
Our first port was Puerta Viarta. Eric and Bryan took off on their own. They needed to find some yummy tacos. David and the boys went zip lining, Lara, Tamara and I checked out the sites (and of course Walmart) and my parents, Dane, Marissa and Kira stayed on board. Later that afternoon we all headed off the ship. We had lots of fun. My mom and I were even able to "tisk tisk" the people that were arriving late on the ship (one of our favorite things).
Our next port was Cabo San Lucus. I decided not to get off the ship along with my parents and Dane. The rest of the crew headed to the beach. They ended up renting a jet ski. It was a typical fiasco with losing Bryan, getting to the wrong beach, burning through 45 minutes of rental time and of course BIG SUNBURNS! (when will Eric learn??)
We were in Cabo for 2 days. Mazatlan was on of the ports but Princess pulled out of it because it is too dangerous. To be honest we didn't pick this cruise for the ports...they were fun but we were more interested in being on a cruise :)
Looking back at the trip I remember the dinners the most. We ate some very yummy as well as some very interesting things. Tyler and Kira ate escargot. Of course we had lobster night. I ate something that turned my stomach inside out...then tried to pay everyone to try it too. I watched Luke eat 6 florets of butter in a single sitting. I heard Marissa say "this is fancy" about 20 times. Tamara almost threw her flipper away a few times. Dane stopped people in their tracks. Bryan and Eric swore to not eat again at the end of every night only to start again the next day. I probably ate 2 whole pizzas. We ordered every single item off the dessert menu each night. Dane is really getting good with eating solids.
We just had a great time. Sadly Mike wasn't on the trip with us this year. We really missed him!
I took over 200 pictures...lets just say I picked out the best ones to make into a collage. Thanks again Mom and Dad for a great trip.
